Doing Business in Swindon, Wiltshire
Located just off the M4, Swindon has become a major location for businesses with a number of multi-national firms set up factories and headquarters. The city is incredibly popular with car-manufacturers thanks to its proximity to major transport links and cities such as Bristol and Reading.
Industry and Business
Firms such as Mini-BMW and Honda all have major factories in the city that employ large numbers of the population. The companies have also made used of previously
uninhabitated land, with Honda set up their factory at an old WWII RAF base that had been unused since the war.
As well as auto-manufacturing, the city is also popular with electronic manufacturers and the service sector. Major firms have offices in the city, with electronics giant Intel even having their European Headquarters in Swindon. On top of that, the banking industry is also well represented with the likes of Nationwide and Zurich establishing head offices there, as well as other banks such as Natwest and Barclays.

For a city that has a population of just over 200,000, a number of global firms including those in the health and logistics sectors have established themselves in Swindon. Whether it is pharmaceutical firm Arval or global logistics company Cartus, all of them have recognised that the city's location and transport links makes it ideal for transporting their goods around the country.
The city has also attracted home-owners after the city was voted on the 20 Best Places To Buy Property. As such, the city is slowly developing and growing into an entertainment and tourism centre as well as an industry and manufacturing hub.
