With its close location to major transport links and its ever-growing service sector, the town of Bournemouth has seen rapid growth over the past two decades. Despite a population of under 500,000, the town and surrounding region is one of the most prosperous in the country, with a large number of international firms relocating to the area 
in recent years.
The sheer number of world-class firms has led to a high-quality of life for local employees, who are often skilled workers such as engineers and insurance brookers. As such, the town is characterised by large, well-made, attractive homes an ideal place to raise a family. In fact, a survey in 2007 named Bournemouth as the happiest town in the UK, with over 80% of the population saying they enjoyed their lives there.
With the local economy primarily powered by the service industry, Bournemouth has attracted businesses such as Palmair, Standard Life and JPMorgan Chase, who even have their European headquarters in the town. Bournemouth also has a prosperous business tourism sector, with many conferences and trade shows being held in the Bournemouth International Centre and other local venues.
With broadband access becoming more and more crucial to businesses, Bournemouth established its e-credits by becoming the first Fibre-City in the UK, when in April 2008 it became the first region to give local homes and businesses access to 100MB internet access.
Innovation like this has made Bournemouth an attractive base for many companies and it will no doubt see substantial growth in the future.
